OUR STORY

When we came to look at Stibb Hollow Farm in late 2016, we were completely taken in with the gorgeous open countryside and the views across to Dartmoor. We moved here in October that same year and had the daunting task of renovating the house. In 2019 we put in plans for our cabin and early 2020 we began building, then Covid hit. We were like everyone else in limbo, we had a half built cabin and no way of finishing until things opened up again. Finally we managed to pull it all together and open in July 2020. We've had an amazing journey so far and have met some truly lovely guests who all seem to enjoy it here as much as we do. The night sky is a thing of beauty, having moved from Surrey we'd forgotten how spectacular the night sky is. We have an array of animals all of who like to come and say hello to our guests. We lamb throughout the year so often have lambs to entertain us all. We hope to see you soon, Nicci & Matt xx

THE FARM

We have a small holding of around 5 acres, it is a mix of gardens, open field and a small strip of woodland. We have sheep and sometimes lambs, ducks, chickens, two dogs and a cat. The chickens and the ducks love to come up to the cabin to have some corn (we keep a container in the cabin for you to give to them). Lambing happens anytime from February to March and it is a joy to see the lambs running around in the field. The sheep field in right next to the cabin garden so you can get up close to them. They are very friendly as most have been hand reared so will come if you call them. Fresh duck eggs are available to our guests and if you have children visiting they can collect them, sometimes though you have to be quick as Nelly our Labrador likes to steal them for herself . Buster our other Labrador loves a game of football and has been known to spend hours outside playing with children who come to stay. Biscuit the ginger cat also likes to wander around the cabin looking for an ear scratch. The old lambing shed near to the cabin has an extra fridge and a freezer along with a table and chairs and toys for the kids to play with. Our drift bikes are always a huge winner, as we are secluded from a road the kids are free to play and be safe. Our small piece of woodland copse has a couple of rope swings and a wooden bench for you to use.

Stibb Hollow Farm is located at the end of an unpaved farm track, that we share with three working farms. The track is uneven, often muddy and does have some potholes which we do our best to fill, but it can be a bit bumpy, so it's not ideal for low slung sports cars.

Absolutely amazing - blissful setting and a cosy cabin with an outdoor fire to cook over and talk around with a glass of wine, wood fired hot tub, delightful animals (especially the chickens, Biscuit the cat and Nelly the puppy!) and amazing views for stargazing at night. The hosts were nice but unobtrusive, giving us extra duck eggs (yum!) and making themselves available without us feeling pressured at all. Having no TV was a lovely change, as it gave us a chance to play board games, chat around the fire and just spend time together in the beautiful surroundings. Also lots to do in the area, so it was possible to mix trips out with copious relaxation. There were lovely little touches like a cream tea in the fridge on arrival, the eggs and handmade soap, and we can’t wait to go back for more relaxation next year.

Beautiful cabin looking over the landscape and sheep. We enjoyed our morning visits from the chickens and ducks. The wood heated hot tub at night was very special. All the amenities and comforts one could wish for whilst feeling at one with nature.

As brilliant as our trip last year. Nicci and Matt really looked after us and the cabin was brilliant.
