AROUND STIBB HOLLOw Farm

There is so much to see and do you really will be spoilt for choice. Stibb Hollow is ideally placed with Dartmoor to the south of us, Cornwall to the west and everything else in between. If you are looking for a gentle or challenging walk, Dartmoor has it all. In half an hour you can arrive at the market town of Okehampton where you will be able to pick up trails which take you up onto the moor. If you want to travel further afield there are many great guides that will find you your perfect spot, don't forget to take your cossie for a spot of wild swimming. If it is cycling you are after we are 15 minutes from the Take Trail, 180 miles of cycle way, free of cars and with plenty of stops along the way. North Devon is great for surfing and you really are spoilt for choice, Westward Ho! is a two mile long beach which is great for kids, two life guard stations and no rip tides! There really is too much to mention here but we've created a guide for the cabin of all the things you can do while you holiday here with us.

SURFING & SUP

There are so many beaches to choose from for surfing or if conditions are right for Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP). Our kids have had their surf lessons at Westward Ho! beach. Either Devon Surf School or Westward Waves, both offer group or private lessons. Bude in Cornwall also have surf schools and you can SUP on the canal there. Of course you can go further afield with Braunton, Saunton Sands, Illracombe or down into Cornwall.

SUP is also available on the River Torridge, often see paddle boarders out on the river on summer evenings, idyllic . Surf's SUP Academy will take you out on the river.

There are also water sports available at Roadford Lakes, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing and SUP.

Devon Wake Park is just outside bideford has a wipeout course of inflatables, along with a wake board lake. They have a cafe on site and a pizza oven.

WALKING

South West Coastal Path can be picked up from many points along the coast. Westward Ho! has a free car park just by the path with no parking restrictions, best to get there early as spaces go quickly.

Hartland Point, Bucks Mill and Clovelly are all worth a visit on your walk, all have parking.

Of course Dartmoor is around a half hour drive from Stibb Hollow and can be accessed at the market town of Okehampton and there are a number of routes you can take. visitdartmoor.co.uk has plenty of maps for you to choose from with lots of different ability levels.

CYCLING

Here in Devon we have the Tarka Trail which is 180 mile network of disused railway line. You can hire bikes at Torrington Cycle Hire at Puffing Billy Torrington. We cycle to Instow from Torrington which is about 14 mile round trip. There are a couple of good pubs in Instow for that all important pit stop. Instow sits at the mouth of the estuary looking over to appledore, there is a beach there but not for swimming.

We have secure barns for you to store your bikes if you bring them with you.

RHS ROSEMOOR

RHS Rosemoor Devon garden is rich in horticultural heritage and could be said to have two faces: one designed more recently by the RHS and the other created over time.

As a visitor, you will experience the newest areas first, beginning with the multi-faceted Formal Garden and then the Stream Field and Lake to the north. These in turn lead toward the South West and Devon Orchards and the very popular Fruit and Vegetable Garden. Walking through the Underpass you discover the contrasting original garden of Lady Anne Berry, which consists of many garden ‘rooms’ that blend seamlessly into one.
